Tulum: cenotes, jungle and the Caribbean in one place
Tulum sits on the southern coast of Quintana Roo, about 80 miles from Cancún and 40 miles from Playa del Carmen. Unlike other Riviera Maya destinations, here the jungle and the world's largest underground river system are minutes from the Caribbean Sea. That combination is why Tulum's cenotes are so varied: in a single day you can swim in an open cenote surrounded by palm trees, explore a cavern full of stalactites, and float down an underground river lit by natural sunbeams.
Cenotes Casa Tortuga brings this variety together in one park: five different cenotes (open, semi-open, cavern and river-style) connected by jungle trails. It's the ideal choice if you have one day for cenotes and don't want to spend it driving between scattered locations.
When to visit? Cenotes are great year-round — the water stays between 75 and 79 °F. November through April is drier and cooler; May through October is hotter, which makes the cenote swim even more refreshing. To avoid crowds, morning departures (9:00 AM) are always your best bet.
Getting there: From Cancún it's about 2 hours on Highway 307; from Playa del Carmen, 45 minutes. If you arrive by ADO bus or colectivo, the meeting point is at the entrance to town — we send you the exact location on WhatsApp when you book.
